I know we saw a spate of these stories when The Blair Witch Project first made waves (pun intended), but considering the continued interest in Cloverfield, it’s worth repeating: If you suffer at all from motion sickness, take Dramamine before going to the theater. I saw the movie on Saturday morning and the theater attendant told me that they had people getting sick the night before. So, they put up this sign: ‘Due to the filming method used for “Cloverfield”, guests viewing this film may experience side effects associated with motion sickness similar to riding a rollercoster.’
I took a picture of this with my phone because I thought it was kinda funny and I showed it to my wife. She rolled her eyes and prepared for the worst since ‘The Blair Witch Project’ made her puke. No problems during this movie, though.
After reading the article, I would add that I did see this in an AMC theater.
I saw Cloverfield at a Silvercity theatre (in Canada) and I was sitting right at the front so there wasn’t a ton of room between the screen and my face, and I felt fine. The camerawork really wasn’t as bad as I had expected.
I saw this last friday, with my dramamine and it barely made it through. good thing it was only 88 minutes long or I don’t think it would have. I thought it was worth it though, being the pop culture junkie I am
