Tamara:
Please, please DO NOT include competition-game shows like ‘Wipeout’ and ‘I Survived a Japanese Game Show’ in this weekly list.
They have absolutely NOTHING to do with this genre and advertising/promoting this sort of mindless, cheap network programming is just criminal… even during summer.
Thank you.
Harsh….
Anyway.
Tamara, I actually liked Dracula 2000. It’s not grade A material, but it is a good fun ride. By the way, are you a Doctor Who watcher? I love this show and I am pissed to find out that SciFi has been editing the show for time and ads. Its a disservice, because it leaves out crucial info. I just saw the finale and I pray that it is treated with some respect.
Mark – I feel the same way about Dracula 2000, hence the hybrid description of “crap” and “spectacular”. It’s good times.
I am a Doctor Who fan, though I’m a fairly recent convert. I wasn’t aware that they edited the show down on SciFi – that sucks. Hopefully the BBC America airings don’t do the same thing.
Sorry, but I agree about Wipeout and any other crappy reality show. They don’t belong, including Ghost Hunters, Scare Tactics; anything of this ilk is the absolute worst TV has to offer.
You miss a lot of other shows much more worthwhile to profile, why not turn people on to Avatar the Last Airbender on Nik, Kindred: the Embraced on CHLL, Mars Rising on SCI (or anything on SCI for that matter), and repeats of Star Trek: DS9 on Spike?
If Doctor Who is anything like Torchwood then BBAmerica is the place to watch it.
Sorry, that is BBC America
I think they edit them on BBC America as well, but I am not sure. Torchwood, as I am sure everyone here knows, is Doctor Who’s spinoff, but my problem is that if they did edit some of Torchwood it would be for some of the sexually explicit material, not time. Doctor Who was edited for time, which sucks and it doesn’t help the flow of the story. I rewatched the Season Three finale a week ago and nearly puked when they left out a big dramatic scene. I was grateful to have seen it unedited from the British broadcast a year ago.
Tamara, I am a recent convert myself, actually during Season Two. I have already seen the rest of the episodes of Season 4 and they are shockers.
I am so excited about the return of SGA this week, any chance there’ll be a recap of it this season.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a recap of any Stargate show on Zap2it’s website.
Too bad since it has a very loyal fan base.
Same can be said for the shows mentioned above, such as Dr. Who, Torchwood, etc. The only true sci-fi series I’ve seen recapped here is BSG.
I guess Zap2it does not consider the genre worthy of recapping. Zap2it is more than happy to recap every pathetic reality show on deep cable tho.
I hate to say it, but you’ll probably have to go to http://www.gateworld.net or another site for Stargate reviews, recaps, production notes, photos and discussion.
