I don’t want to tell you what to do on Sunday, the lastday of San Diego Comic-Con, but I can make some suggestions.
Anyone who knows me or follows me on Twitter knows that I’m keenly interested in diversity and representation in the Nerdosphere. I think it’s important to discuss the topic openly and honestly, without malice or subterfuge, to not only foster change but, more importantly, understanding.
To that end, I recommend the BATTLE FOR MULTICULTURAL HEROES panel, the brainchild of Tony Kim, aka “Crazy4ComicCon.”
Tony has taken this panel around the country to various cons and lead some great discussions with the help from some friends (full disclosure, I’m one of them – I took part in a Comikaze session in 2013, my first ever panel) and the lovely audience in attendance.
So, I think you should check it out. I’ll be there.

Panel Description:
The Battle for Multicultural Heroes (Sun 4:00p.m. – 5:00)
The pop culture explosion through gaming, comics, TV, and film has opened up new opportunities for cultural diversity; however, many challenges and obstacles still exist in today’s media. In this humorous but poignant discussion, diverse geek experts will discuss breaking ethnic stereotypes and what changes need to happen for us to boldly go into the future. Panelists include Linda Le (professional cosplayer), Andre Meadows (Black Nerd Comedy), clinical psychologist Dr Andrea Letamendi (The Arkham Sessions), and Tony B Kim (Crazy4ComicCon.com). Room: 28DE
